PARTE 1 – PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS

  • Participants must be experienced riders and be in excellent physical condition to participate in the Transandes Challenge.
  • Minimum age to enter the race is 18 years old. Participants as young as 18 years old are permitted only in the case that the team leader is the parent or legal guardian of the minor.
  • All participants must read, understand and obey the following “Official Rules and Regulations”.
  • The organizers, sponsors, volunteers and event personnel are not responsible for any injury or damage that may occur during the event, such as cancellations, delays or re-routing due to natural or environmental concerns.
  • Each participant will be required to sign a waiver upon registration, declaring that they take full responsibility for risk of injury to themselves or their equipment and any lost or stolen items. Accident insurance is also required to enroll.

Any rider who cannot continue the race must inform the organization by calling the number given at the team meeting on January 11 or by contacting the organizers during the race.

One category will be considered official if in it is recorded at least 4 teams (or individual competitors as appropriate). If the above is not fulfilled, the registered competitors in this category will be informed to be integrated into the most suitable category.

Hotel accommodation is based on a double or triple room, if you compete in teams categoríes, you will be assigned a room that you will share with your partner, and if you come with a group of friends, inform us who make up your group of friends to assign them rooms for you.
If you are an individual competitor, you can request to be assigned to another competitor from your group of friends or teammates who are in the individual categories.

In case of not having a roommate, a roommate will be assigned where they have an affinity of age and language.

The camp will be ready at least one night before the start, food service will be provided from dinner on March 6 prior to the start of the competition (Premium Pack only).

Pack Self Support participants will be free to stay in the venue that best suits them.
The organization will not be responsible for transfers between the race camp to and from your hotel.

Transfers from Temuco’s Airport to the start and from the finish will be available for participants.
Transfers will be working 3 days prior to the start and 1 day after the race has finish. Transfer cost is not included in the registration fee. Please see the Transfer Information
The 5 stages will be marked, the riders will have to follow the signals and the check points published on the race book.
The race book brings distance and altitudes datas of each stage. For this reason, we recommend to use a ciclocomputer and an altimeter.
Data may vary due to differences in personal calibrations and methods of measurement We are not currently providing GPS data for the route, but participants are welcome to use GPS units for their own purposes.
Riders should be prepared to perform regular maintenance and repair (i.e. changing brake pads, replacing chains, cables, etc.).
We strongly recommend that you start the challenge on a mechanically flawless bike. Please note that we do not offer technical support at control points. Independent service providers will be set up in the TransAndes Campsites, providing mechanical support for free for easy mechanicals problems and a user-pay basic for difficult mechanicals. Limited spare parts will be available for purchase as well.
Included in the race package, each participant will receive three meals daily. TransAndes will also provide isotonic drinks and cereal bars and a small amount of fruit at each control point. It is recommended that if you require more food/drink during the day that you make the necessary arrangements in advance by purchasing food either in the communities or from the TransAndes catering at each stage.
At each stage location you can drop your bike off for the night in a secured Bike Park until 11 pm. TransAndes is not liable for bike thefts or vandalism. For this reason, we strongly advise you to have a lock for your bikes. We will re-open the Bike Park each morning at 7:00 am. To receive your bike, the start number on your accreditation and the one on the bike must be identical. Once your bike is dropped off at the Bike Park, you will not have access to it again until the following morning starting at 7:00 am.
Bikes must be picked up by 8:30 am.
Transfers from Temuco’s Airport to the start and from the finish will be available for participants.

Due to the volume of people checking in, we ask that participants make arrangements to do so as early as possible.

Participants must be in good health conditions and be experienced, well-trained mountain bikers. All participants are responsible for their own health and travel insurance. The Organization will not be responsible for medical expenses in case of accident.

We will give information throught the web page www.transandeschallenge.com about alternatives to get insurance in Chile.

To sing in you will be asked to show proof of insurance upon registration.ccidentes.

PARTE 2 – OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

For the Teams Categories both riders must appear together on all control points and at the finish line. Should one team member arrive more than two minutes before their partner at one of the control points, the team will be given a 15 minutes time penalty over the time of the last team member. If this occurs in a second time, the team will receive an hour penalti. The time to consider to establish the classification of the team is the one that marks the second competitor of the team in crossing the finish line.

Start numbers (both members of each team have the same start number) must be mounted on the handlebars. The sponsor placement on the start numbers must be seen and no additional advertising
may be added.

Transandes Challenge is a competition of self-sufficiency, competitors should be able to solve technical problems on their own during the development stages. May be assisted by other competitors. In the event that any malfunction prevents them from completing the stage, be able to receive external assistance for one time only, a penalty of one hour on the total accumulated time.
Competitors may receive private supplies only in the neutral supply points established by the organization.

  • It is strictly forbidden to throw waste in the circuit. If the competitor is surprised, he will be sanctioned; if he re-insits, he will be immediately disqualified from the competition, and must therefore leave the racen camp. Who witnesses a competitor throwing garbage on the track must report it, otherwise he may receive sanctions when being considered a concealer.
  • Competitors must follow the duly marked route at all times, otherwise they will receive sanctions. If it is discovered that a team or competitor took an alternative route, thereby obtaining a benefit of time, it will be disqualified from the competition
    If by mistake, the competitor takes a wrong route, they must return to the correct route at the same point where they abandoned it.
  • The competitors must at all times show correct behavior, no unsportsmanlike attitudes will be allowed.
  • The use of any bicycle that has mechanical or electrical elements that help the cyclist will not be allowed.
  • Race Meetings will be Mandatories! At each Race Meeting it willbe necessary to sign assistance, it will be penalized for each absence according to the following table:

1 Absence = Warning

2 Absences = 2 minutes late

3 Absences = 3minutes late

4 Absences =Disqualification

I have read, understand and I am in complete agreement with the rules and conditions of TransAndes Challenge 2022.

The organizers may cancel or delay the race, stages of the race or re-routing with a short time in advance due to unforeseen circumstances like bad air quality, weather conditions, wildlife or security concerns, naturals facts or any other major circumstance without refunds to the participants. At the registration the participant must be aware of the risks associate to this kind of special events and have to accept freely and voluntarily the risks and the possibility of any kind of personal accidents.
In turn, the organization has the right not to allow the registration of brokers who are fulfilling a final and enforceable sanction for the use of doping.

Registrations must be made online by entering the ONLINE REGISTRATION FORM (click here):

Only competitors who have paid their registration no later than February 25th, 2022 will be admitted

  1. A refund equivalent to 80% of the paid amount can be issued if we receive written notice before October 1st, 2022.
  2. No refunds can be issued after October 1st, 2022. However, you can transfer the registration to another competitor that you may know
  3. Registrations and cancellations will not be accepted by phone.

Registration fee payment must be completed on or before February 24th, 2023.
