History of TransEvents
In 1998, the creation of the first TransAlp Challenge in Europe began with two hundred and twenty teams of two riders from eight different countries crossing the European Alps in eight days. The arduous 580-kilometre long route with over 20,000 meters of climbing became the most challenging mountain bike event worldwide.
There after, first annual TransRockies Challenge was held North America in August 2002, as the brainchild of two individuals, Heinrich Albrecht and Chester Fabricius. Both men set out to challenge the incredible strength and determination of riders as they faced seven days, 600 kilometers, and 12,000 meters of climbing. This race is still going strong today.
The first ever TransAndes Challenge will be held through the Patagonian Andes from Chile to Argentina, South America, from February 3rd till February 8th, 2009. The race will be a "Team Endurance" event, with 6 demanding and spectacularly scenic stages of between 60 and 100 kilometers per day.
